Sandy Springs

active 1 year, 9 months ago

Located just north of Atlanta, the City of Sandy Springs — once a rural village and summer retreat — is not only Georgia’s newest city, but also its seventh largest. We have grown to become an urban center and home to more than 85,000 citizens from around the nation and the world.

After more than 25 years of efforts, in 2005 residents of Sandy Springs won the right to vote on whether or not to become a city. In June 2005 residents overwhelmingly approved incorporation, making Sandy Springs the 7th largest city in the state of Georgia. Residents voted on a mayor and city council in November 2005 and the new city government took effect Dec. 1, 2005.
