Exploring the pottery traditions of the various cultures that have occupied the region, the Folk Pottery Museum of Northeast Georgia holds dozens of pieces created over the centuries. Pieces date back to the mid-1800s and represent both the needs of locals as well as the artistic inspirations of their creators. A variety of pottery-related demonstrations, talks and other events take place at the museum throughout the year, offering an even more in-depth way to learn about the pottery history of the region. The museum is part of the Sautee Nacoochee Center that sits just outside Chattahoochee National Forest, about four miles away from the tourist town of Helen.
